You can’t be unhappy in the middle of big, beautiful falls.

Western ghats are a delight in monsoons. The mountains are greener than ever with numerous river streams that come into life! The waterfalls are at their glory and one can enjoy them best in the monsoons.

The laid back town of Yellapur has quite a few waterfalls, some of which are known and many which remain hidden to outsiders but nonetheless beautiful. After a splendid breakfast and good rest we set out to visit Sathodi Falls, which is at a distance of 32 km from Yellapur nestled among-st jungles.

A walk through the pathway bought us to the mighty falls. One has to jump, climb and cross over multiple slippery sharp rocks to view the falls closely. With water gushing from 15 feet,surrounded by huge boulder walls and amidst the lush greenery, there sat Sathodi Falls like a queen (Check out the video). Sathodi falls is formed mainly by river Kali and several unnamed streams. The bad roads and rock climbing was totally worth to see this scenic,pristine and untouched gem.

We decided to visit the popular and massive Magod falls. Magod falls is 18 km from Yellapur on Yellapur-Ankola highway. On our way we took a detour which bought us to small yet beautiful temple overlooking the lake.

Blue skies. Ducks and swans around the crystal clear lake with abundant greenery around made me love monsoons even more. The green becomes more greener when its monsoons ❤

Magod falls is a group of falls bouncing and dancing their way down the gorge from 650ft and its a beautiful sight to behold (Check out the video). One can’t get down to the falls and needs to watch them from multiple view points setup on the opposite hill. There are three different viewpoints which needs a little bit of hike.

After soaking in the tranquility away from the city life, we left halfheartedly and bid goodbye to this small town.

• If light showers do not bother you,then falls are best visited in start of monsoons as roads become pretty bad and falls are not accessible.

• Transport – You can hire local taxis to visit the falls. They usually charge 1200rs – 1800rs depending on places to see
